All About Walmart ASN Requirements

What Is an Advanced Shipping Notice?

An Advanced Shipping Notice, or ASN, is an alert that a vendor sends to Walmart to let them know that their order is arriving. It is unrealistic for Walmart and suppliers alike to expect one hundred percent in-full shipments on every single order, so the ASN is a great communication device for the two parties on opposite sides of the supply chain.

Why Is an Advanced Shipping Notice important?

Much like a receipt that we receive after a purchase on Amazon, the Walmart ASN provides comfort for the Wal-Mart buyer, reminding them why they chose to invest in you and your valuable product in the first place. When your Walmart ASN’s are on time, the trust between you and your buyer will increase tenfold.

Additionally, an ASN allows Walmart to hold their suppliers accountable for accuracy. If there is any discrepancy in the shipment and order, the ASN is a great way to find it and fix it rather quickly. If Walmart knows what is coming into their inventory, there is a much better chance of your product flying off the shelves in the hands of delighted customers.

How do I make sure I avoid fines?

      • All lines of the Purchase Order must be present on the ASN
      • All items of the shipment must be present on the ASN
      • The quantity of items shipped must be accurately reciprocated on the ASN
      • Most importantly, Walmart must receive the ASN before the shipment arrives at the DC
