How OCM Helped a New Walmart Supplier Recover $64k in Wrongful OTIF Fines

A real-world case study on how our team identified wrongful compliance charges, disputed them successfully, and got a new Walmart supplier back on track fast.

Updated: April 2026

The Problem

A new Walmart supplier was charged $64,000 in OTIF fines during their very first quarter of doing business with Walmart. The charges were wrongfully applied and Walmart has a standard grace period policy for new vendors that waives OTIF fines while they learn Walmart's shipping and logistics requirements. The supplier didn't know this policy existed, and without an experienced Walmart broker in their corner, those fines would have gone uncontested.

The Solution

OCM immediately recognized the error. Our team worked alongside the supplier's account manager to gather all relevant documentation and email communications confirming that Walmart had incorrectly applied the fines. We compiled the dispute package and submitted it through the HighRadius portal on the supplier's behalf, while simultaneously contacting HighRadius customer support to expedite the resolution.

The Result

The dispute was approved in full. The supplier was repaid the entire $64,000, money that would have been lost without OCM's insider knowledge of Walmart's new vendor policies and compliance processes. For a supplier still finding their footing with one of the world's largest retailers, recovering that capital was a critical win.

OCM's deep understanding of Walmart's new vendor grace period policy saved this supplier $64,000 in wrongful OTIF fines in their very first quarter.
