What Is Walmart Fulfilled Shipping?
Walmart Fulfilled Shipping, or WFS, is Walmart’s fulfillment program for Marketplace sellers. Instead of shipping each Walmart.com order individually, sellers send inventory in bulk to Walmart, and Walmart stores, picks, packs, and ships those orders on the seller’s behalf.

For brands familiar with Amazon’s FBA model, WFS serves a similar purpose within the Walmart Marketplace ecosystem.
Who Can Use WFS?
WFS is available only to Walmart Marketplace sellers. It does not apply to items sold through a traditional Walmart supplier or vendor agreement.

That said, a brand that already operates as a Walmart supplier can also open a separate Marketplace account and use WFS through that channel. WFS cannot be used under a standard Walmart vendor contract, where fulfillment and transportation requirements are already defined by Walmart.
Why Sellers Use WFS
For many Marketplace sellers, fulfillment can quickly become one of the most operationally demanding parts of the business. Shipping individual orders in-house can be time-consuming, costly, and difficult to scale as order volume grows.

WFS helps reduce that burden by shifting warehousing and order fulfillment to Walmart. In addition to simplifying operations, sellers often benefit from faster delivery speeds and a more consistent customer experience.

Another advantage is visibility. Walmart frequently favors strong fulfillment performance, and WFS participation can help support better placement and competitiveness on Walmart.com.
Cost Considerations
WFS is a paid service, and sellers should plan for several cost components, including inbound shipping, storage, and pick-and-pack fulfillment fees. In some cases, additional prep services such as labeling or bagging may also apply.

For many standard products, fulfillment costs remain relatively manageable, but they should always be evaluated alongside Walmart’s normal Marketplace referral fees to understand total margin impact.

Because costs vary by size, weight, and handling needs, sellers should review pricing carefully before enrolling products in the program.
Alternatives to WFS
WFS is not the only fulfillment option available to Marketplace sellers. Third-party logistics providers can also support Walmart order fulfillment, and some services allow brands to manage orders across multiple retailers from a single network.

These alternatives may offer broader multichannel flexibility, but they can also come with higher costs or less direct integration with Walmart’s ecosystem. The right fit depends on the seller’s priorities, operational model, and long-term growth strategy.
Is WFS the Right Fit?
WFS is not required for Walmart Marketplace, but it can offer meaningful advantages for sellers looking to improve speed, simplify fulfillment, and create a more scalable operation.

For brands that want to reduce internal shipping demands while strengthening their Walmart presence, WFS is often worth serious consideration.
