Walmart announced the return of Walmart Deals, its weeklong summer savings event, running June 22 through June 28, a day earlier and two days longer than Amazon's Prime Day window. The event featured discounts up to 50% across pets, self-care, sports, outdoor, TVs, patio, fashion and toys, with early back-to-school essentials also included.
Walmart+ members received Early Access to a curated assortment of high-demand deal-drop items during the first 24 hours, with remaining items opening to all shoppers the next day. Notably, 49% of Prime Day shoppers reported also shopping or planning to shop Walmart Deals confirming these summer sales windows are now industry-wide shopping occasions rather than single-retailer events.
What this means for suppliers:
Walmart is intentionally scheduling its sales events to compete directly with Amazon's calendar, expect this pattern to continue in future summer and holiday windows
Suppliers in featured categories (electronics, patio, back-to-school) should expect deal-drop planning conversations well ahead of the event window
Cross-shopping between Walmart and Amazon during the same week means visibility and pricing strategy matter across both platforms simultaneously
